  • Parris Patrick
Pastor of Discipleship and Spiritual Development

Parris joined South Belt Church in September 2022 after serving as pastor of Agape Community Bible Church for 13 years.  Leading up to that, he also served in various positions at Liberty Baptist Church and Charis Chapel Bible Church, working with youth and married couples as well as preaching on occasion.  He received his Master of Theology degree from Charis Theological Seminary where he later taught as Professor of Apologetics.

Parris is thankful for the spiritual foundation laid for him by his father.  Parris himself is the proud father of three grown children, Isaac, Daniel, and Parker.  Die-hard University of Houston football fans would recognize him from the '97-'99 squads.  In his free time he enjoys working out, going to the ocean to journal, riding his motorcycle, and enjoying the evening air.

  • Doug Parmer
    Worship Pastor

Doug became the worship pastor at South Belt Church in July 2009.  He grew up in nearby Pasadena and, in 2006, received a degree in music education from University of Houston where he met his lovely wife Lynnette.  They have three young children: Melissa, Abi, and Kaylee.  The Parmers have been attending South Belt Church since April 2005.

Doug also works full-time as the band director at Clear Lake Intermediate, where he started in 2006.  He sees this job as an evangelistic ministry and tries to find ways to share his faith with his students.  Doug loves to play board games and Ultimate Frisbee.  He can solve a Rubik's Cube in under 30 seconds.

  • Lynnette Parmer
    Nursery/Children's Small Group Coordinator

Lynnette has been attending South Belt Church since 2005 along with her husband Doug.  She has been involved in children’s ministry throughout her time at South Belt, being active as a teacher in weekly children's classes, as well as serving as a Vacation Bible School teacher for many years.  She has been on staff as children’s ministry leader since August 2021.  Lynnette’s heart for this ministry is that the children of South Belt not only learn about Jesus but also feel God’s love for them in a very real way through the amazing volunteers she helps to rally together.

Lynnette stays busy at home as a mom of three lovely girls and feels that all tasks - especially the mundane everyday tasks like laundry, dishes, and cooking - are prime opportunities for glorifying God.  She also enjoys trying new things (most recently family taekwondo classes), travelling to new places, and praising God for the wonders of chocolate!

  • Beth Taylor
    Financial Administrator
Beth is a long-time member of South Belt Church and considers her position here a gift from God.  She retired from the Port of Houston Authority in September 2018 after 28 years and continues to exercise her financial management skills at South Belt.

She lives in the house that she grew up in and cares for her mother, Helen, also a member of South Belt, and her beloved dog, Boo.  And if you want to know anything about the Astros, just give her a call.
  • Sheila Steele
    Ministry Assistant

Sheila's voice is usually the first one you hear when you call South Belt Church.  A member since 1982, she came on board as Ministry Assistant in August 2003.  Aside from day-to-day administrative duties, she also works with the worship team as a musician and media coordinator.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Sheila grew up in the Houston area and considers herself a naturalized Texan.  She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1980 with a Bachelor's degree in fine arts.  Among her interests are reading, playing violin, long-distance cycling, and early film history.  She also enjoys hanging out with Ken, her husband since 1987.
